HISTORY

Looking to help his small village's tourist trade, wax museum curator Vandoom decides to build a huge new wax monster. During a lightning storm, the statue is hit and comes to life, rampaging out of the museum. However, the creature never struck a human and tried to leave them. However, they went into mob-mode and tried to destroy it.

In the middle of this, an alien spacecraft landed in the village, and Martians emerged, planning to attack. The creature then used it's remaining energies to fight the aliens, who retreated to space. The creature then collapsed. The villagers, realizing it had helped them, offered to bury this creature, and help Vandoom build another one for his museum.

At some point, either the original creature reawoke, or the second came to life, and made its way to the Mole Man's Monster Island.

A group of Skrulls witnessed the creature fighting with another monster on Monster Island. They then took command of it and the other Monster Island creatures and used them to attack the world, hoping to flush out a Skrull in hiding. They sent the creature to Moscow. It later returned as reinforcements for the Mole Man during a battle that included the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and others.

The Vandoom Creature was among the monsters summoned by the Mole Man to greet Adam Warlock upon his arrival on Monster Island.

When the demon called Nightmare invaded the dreams of a young Peter Parker (the future Spider-Man), he used several monsters to attack Parker, including the Vandoom Creature.

Vandoom's creature was one of several monsters present on the Mole Man's Monster Island when the Justice League converged there seeking one of twelve lost items of power. Along with the other creatures, he was beaten by the dimension-hopping team. (JLA/Avengers #1)
