HISTORY
While trying to think of a new creature to create for his popular monster comics, artist Frank Johnson is given a set of mystical paints which allow items to become real after being painted. Under a form of mind control, Frank leaves for Mexico, to a lost Aztec temple. There, he paints a monstrous creature, Zzutak, who comes to life.
The man who gave Frank the paints then reveals himself to be an ancient Aztec ruler, who needed an artist to create Zzutak, and others like him, to help take over the world. Frantic, Frank paints another creature, instilling it with the qualities to hate Zzutak, and when this creature comes to life, it brings the temple down around it and Zzutak...killing/trapping them both.
During a later battle between the Fantastic Four and a group of monsters, both creatures were briefly released from their prison before the "good" monster managed to re-bury them both.
Zzutak, or rather a larger creature resembling him, was among the monsters summoned by the Mole Man to greet Adam Warlock upon his arrival on Monster Island.
