Joe's wife Alice wants a watch. Joe's boss has Joe go buy a watch for a fellow employee who has won the office's efficiency contest. Gee, d'ya think the watch will get to the employee before Alice crosses Joe's path?
Another example where the performances put over what the situation doesn't. All of the actors are so earnest and fast-paced, they barely give you time to think how many similar sitcom situations you've seen like this. There's no denying, though, that the McDoakes are starting to get pretty conventional -- especially when you realize that about the time this was being filmed, "I Love Lucy" was doing the same kind of stuff.
