Having promised to have their living room wallpapered by the time Alice's bridge party arrives, Joe enlists the help of his klutzy neighbor Marvin (Rodney Bell). Laurel & Hardy-ness ensues.
This one is a real mixed bag. When the movie concentrates on the ineptitude of Joe and Marvin's efforts, it's pretty funny. Unfortunately, the film resorts to "cheating" for a lot of its so-called gags. There's one scene of speeded-up film to represent the duo's racing through the job. And when Joe has trouble with a piece of wallpaper that keeps rolling back up on itself, you can clearly see the string that the prop man is using to pull off the gag.
The entire mess is almost redeemed by a great cameo from Arthur Q. Bryan, best known as the voice of Bugs Bunny's adversary Elmer Fudd. Just close your eyes and listen, and you'll swear it's Elmer hawking that potato peeler.
