Joe is the fifth vice-president of his company, and one of the company's upper VPs has died, so Joe's boss wants to promote from within. But of course, Joe's not much in the running when the boss can never remember even his name. Joe seeks career-advancement advice from fast-talking Homer. We all know how that goes.
This short is funny enough, and of course there's no such thing as plot continuity in this series. Still, it is a little strange when Joe's boss is lauding him to the heavens in one short (So You Want to Know Your Relatives) and doesn't even know his name five films later. Maybe they should make a short subject titled So You Think You Have Short-Term Memory Loss.
