MANHUNTER Bio

In the 1930's, wealthy sportsman Paul Kirk was considering the idea of hunting criminals as a new challenge for himself, having gotten bored with hunting animals, thanks to the suggesstion from his good friend, Police Inspector Donavan. A costumed madman called The Buzzard was on the rampage in the city and Donavan was on his case. In a confrontation with the costumed criminal, Donavan and his men were murdered. The news hit Paul Kirk hard and he then decides to take the law into his own hands and hunt the down The Buzzard, by donning a mask and costume, calling himself...Manhunter. After bringing the Buzzard to justice, Paul Kirk keeps the guise of Manhunter and continued to fight crime and eventually ends up joining the wartime costumed superhero group, The All Star Squadron. Later during World War II, just weeks before 'D-Day', at the request of the US Government, Kirk abandons his costume to fight behind enemy lines as a secret agent for the OSS. After the war ended, Kirk was burned out. Revulsed by his work in Europe, he felt he no longer had the same sense for adventure and justice and decides to go back to big game hunting in Africa. In 1946, while on safari in Kenya, he intentionally misses shooting a gazelle, unaware that the noise roused a bull elephant, which charged at him and Kirk was apparently trampled to death, thus ending the tale of Manhunter...or it least seemed so.

Paul Kirk's body was found and cryogenically frozen by The Council, a secret organization dedicated to preventing the human race from destroying itself through such means as war. During this time, The Council genetically altered Kirk's genes, giving him a healing factor so that virtually any injury he suffered would rapidly heal. After many decades, he was revived and fully healed. After his awakening, he was then trained by famed ninja master Asano Nitobe, making him a living weapon. Kirk was to be the leader of The Council's enforcement branch, whose members are all clones of himself. His first mission for The Council was to assassinate an Interpol official. When he refused, The Council then attempts to silence him. Now realizing The Council as a threat to all humanity, Paul Kirk goes on the run and decides to don a costume once again and fight back as Manhunter once more.
