Royal Clarence Theatre
The small town of Pontypridd lies a few miles north-west of Cardiff. It is a mainly unremarkable place, but does have beautiful views down by the river.
In 1909, as a teenage youth still making his way in the acting profession, a very young Stanley Jefferson was touring with the Percy Williams Company, performing a play called "Alone in the World". Young Stanley played the interestingly named PC Stoney Broke. The play advertised itself as "A beautiful and pathetic story of child life". We can only wonder....!
The theatre itself is now the Stardust Bingo Hall.
Unfortunately, there is no Sons of the Desert Tent in South Wales.
