[ranma]

By far my most favorite television series of all time: "Ranma 1/2" is a comedy animation based on the long running manga by Rumiko Takahashi, (Takahashi Rumiko in proper Japanese.)
The show starts with martial artists Ranma Saotome, and his father Genma, on a training mission in China. While at Jusenkyo, (training ground of cursed springs,) both fall into separate springs and become cursed to take the form of whatever had drowned there last. Now, whenever splashed with cold water Genma turns into a giant panda, and Ranma turns into a girl. Hot water reverses the transformation, but the gimmick is there, and exploited profusely through out the first few episodes.
To complicate matters: Genma has promised his age old friend Soun Tendo that Ranma will marry his daughter Akane, so that the two of them can carry on the school of "Anything-Goes Martial Arts," (of which the Saotome’s and the Tendo’s are the last practicing families.) Things become... interesting, for everyone involved once Ranma’s problem is discovered.
Through out the series, (which is available on a plethora of tapes from "VIZ VIDEO,") various characters arrive at the Dojo, and either fall in love with, or try to kill, (or sometimes both,) Akane and/or Ranma. Some of these characters have also fallen under the Jusenkyo curse, resulting in even more strange transformations.
Most of the series charm lays in it’s ability to be out-right weird as well as giving a faithful, real-life, accounting of young relationships. Definitely worth watching.

[Tenchi
christmas]

Tenchi-muyo directly translated means, basically: "No need for the unnecessary," which is pretty much the writers’ attitude towards the plot.
The show is about a boy named Tenchi Masaki who’s grandfather’s origin on another planet draws beautiful women from across the galaxy to come and live at his house... Uh-Huh, Yeah.
The story line is thin, but the art is good, the characters are cute, and the whole thing is fairly comedic after a Takahashi-esque fashion. There are a load of OAV’s (Only On Video) out there, with a structurally similar plot line to the Tenchi television series which is only now being released on video in the U.S.
If you get the chance to see it the best, by far, would be the recently released Tenchi movie: Tenchi-Muyo in love. It’s a beautifully animated piece which I would dare to compare with the likes of "Ghost in the shell" and "Akira," (not in style, but in relative strength of character,) and actually has a plot that is, not only prevalent, but also fairly decent. Come to think of it... it has the plot of "Back to the future" except with better acting and visuals. You can even rent it at your local "Blockbuster Video" So, give it a shot!

[Rob and Darlene]

Animayhem is the first (American) collectable card game that revolves around Japanese animation characters! Worlds collide and characters from popular shows such as: Ranma 1/2, El hazard, Tenchi-Muyo, and Bubblegum crisis, race to collect elements of their shattered worlds in a multi-dimensional scavenger hunt! There are more cards on their way from the company which include new characters and shows, (such as project A-ko,) but here are a few cards you won’t see anywhere but here! Below is a sampling of cards which I’ve personalized for use with the game. If you want to, print screen, or capture it! Go ahead, feel free to use them however you can! If you want to download it, just right click over the GIF. You'll get all three cards, and it should only take you four hours! Just kidding... it'll be a few seconds at worst. Enjoy!
