PLEASE ALLOW ME TO EXPLAIN...

Yes, you read correctly: Kill the planet! It’s not a hateful, or evil statement, but a compassionate declaration. Who among us would not wish to end the suffering of an injured and dying creature as quickly and painlessly as possible? Should we perform a theoretical mercy killing for every fading spark of life we find along our many travels, yet not grant that boon to our own mother earth? How is that logical, even justifiable?
But since when is our mother so close to death? The facts are all too apparent, and though we might prefer to blind ourselves to their existence, it’s never been worse than it is now. You might recall that ten years ago we had ourselves an epidemic of global disasters; pollution was getting so bad all across the globe that it started eating a hole in the O-zone layer over Antarctica! Our various governments started to advise us against using aerosol sprays, and driving unnecessarily, also stringent laws were placed on factories regulating the amount of chloro-flourocarbons they could release into the air during their production processes. Now we go through the motions, pretending it was always like this, and to facilitate this disillusionment[recycle] the media stopped mentioning the hole, it just wasn’t NEWS anymore. What did you think, that it just went away? It’s still there... and nothing we do now is making it stop growing.
What about our pollution of the land? Recycling is a standby now, everybody does it and we think "wow! this is great, we’re saving the planet!" but are we, really? Plastics dominate our land masses, oils coat our oceans, fish and animals are dying from the amount of toxic substances they are exposed to on a daily basis... but they’re not the only ones. Our plants, forests and trees, are decaying rapidly; eradicated to make way for our roads and dwellings, decimated to produce the vast amounts of paper and wood products our society constantly demands, and what little is left is succumbing to the sickness spread by our copious amounts of waste. Recycling makes us feel better, makes things look good on the surface, but the facade can only hold as long as we ignore the reality that things aren’t actually getting better... only maintaining their current state of ruin.
We’ve been throwing everything we’ve got at the earth since the industrial revolution and now we think that reusing a few bottles will reverse the effects that our wastefulness has wrought? I’m sorry to say that it’s time to stop kidding ourselves.
