Jhonen graduated Mount Pleasant High School in 1992. He then took film classes at De Anza College, and you can see evidence of that in the weird angles and perspectives you see in his comics. JTHM, his first and most popular comic, was first published in Carpe Noctem, underground Goth magazine, in 1995.
