Willem Dafoe's Bridge-jumping Urges

Spider-Man star Willem Dafoe doesn't like being around bridges - because they give him suicidal tendencies. The American actor, 46, often feels unfulfilled if he walks away from bridges without having flung his body over the edge - an experience which he has luckily not yet experienced. He says, "I'm one of those people who when I go over a bridge, I want to jump. It's just this intense tickle in the back of my throat. It's like I'm on the verge the whole time I'm walking over that bridge, and I'm not going to get a release until I jump."

((What are you crazy?! O_o Don't jump! You have everything to live for...! *groan* Ugh that sounded SO cliché...))

Dafoe's Spider Sense

Willem Dafoe took his role in Spider-Man very seriously - because his character was so real. The intense actor plays The Green Goblin, aka Norman Osborne, opposite Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker in the blockbuster movie, and found some interesting character traits in his role. He says, "Both Norman Osborne and Peter Parker have parallel desires and obstacles, and both have to deal with power. Norman takes the side of greed and ill-will, and Peter of generosity and compassion. But Norman, like Peter, is a bit of a f*** up. He's screwed in his business deals. He's f***ed up his relationship with his son. You see Normans all the time; rich, powerful men who manage to f*** it all up. Look in the paper. Doesn't most of the s*** in the world come down to two damaged men thumping on their chests?"
