The only variation in the line, and the most expensive figure (by the guides) as well. There’s no real reason ever given as to why Mattel started producing Wolverine with the black claws.

Wolverine was released in the 1^st run of figures with silver claws. Wolverine was then released with the 2^nd run of figures only this time sporting black claws. The 1^st run was larger, thus the larger price for the black claws version. It’s more rare.

A neat fact is that on all the 2^nd series merchandise that features a picture of Wolverine, you can clearly see that his claws are black! On the 1^st series merchandise they are clearly silver. So this was not an accident. It was purposely done, though no one has ever spoken up that I know of as to why it was done.

This version, the most expensive by the guides is considered the Holy Grail of the Secret Wars line by many. After many years though, I have to disagree. Looking at what it goes for on eBay show a much lower price than guide. It goes for about $60-100 and is in line with average second series releases for a popular character.
