Shippou is first seen in episode 9. Not much is known about his past life. All I know right now is that both his parents are dead, his father was killed. I haven't heard anything about his mother. Because of the lack of info on Shippo's past I will take this time to tell you how he first came into the series.

He appears in a swirl of clouds while kagome and Inu-Yasha were eating and demands for the shikon no tama. He threatens Inu-Yasha in balloon form but Inu-Yasha is not impressed and smacks shippou over the head. Shippou then hits the ground and transforms back into his real form, a kawaii little kitsune!. Shippou distracts them while he steals the shikon shards and makes a get away but they catch on easily enough, another smack to the head from Inu-Yasha soon stops Shippou.

While Kagome bandages up Shippou's wounds he tells them why he was after the shards. His father was killed and he wanted the shards to give him more power so he can revenge his fathers death. Shippou's father had found some shikon shards and was killed by the thunder brothers, Hiten and Manten. The brothers stole the shards and took Shippou's father's pelt.

Shippou tries to steal the shards from Kagome once more by trapping Inu-Yasha's hand under a statue of a baby monk. Using his illusions Shippou snatches the shards from Kagome and runs off. Kagome follows after shippou on her bike while leaving Inu-Yasha trapped under the statue.

While trying to get away from Kagome, Shippou runs into Manten. Manten tries to steal the newly acquired shards from Shippou. Kagome tries to help fight him off but only manages to make the thunder brother angrier. She is knocked out by Mantens attack and is taken away on his cloud to the thunder brothers castle.

Shippou goes back to get Inu-Yasha, who's hand is still stuck under the statue, and tells Inu-yasha what happened. Inu-Yasha travel to the castle to rescue Kagome from the thunder brothers. At the castle Kagome tells the brothers that if they offer her back to Inu-Yasha that he will give them the shards. They believe her and travel out to meet Inu-Yasha.

After finding out Inu-Yasha won't give up the shikon shards without a fight, Hiten and Inu-Yasha start battling. Shippou and Kagome are doing a little fighting of their own, trying to keep Manten too busy to help his brother. Manten beats off the little fox and grabs Kagome, Inu-Yasha who had lost his sword waits until Hiten is distracted and grabs it. Inu-yasha throws the sword past Hiten and it goes right through Manten.

Hiten starts devouring Mantens heart so there powers would be combined. Inu-yasha tells Kagome to take shippou and shippou's father's pelt and hide somewhere safe while he fights Hiten. Another battle starts. Kagome senses that Inu-Yasha is in trouble since Hiten has the advantage of being able to fly. She has one arrow left but no bow. Shippo tranforms into a bow for her and she aims for one of the wheels by Hitens feet which is what let's HIten fly. She hits it and Inu-yasha takes this time to get closer and punch Hiten in the face. Hiten is knocked back but soon gets up and charges at Inu-Yasha with all his power. Inu-Yasha blocks it with his sword's sheath (sp? ^^;) but since he can't get close to Hiten he can't attack him.

Kagome says they need to get Inu-Yasha's sword to him somehow and Shippou runs out to get it. Kagome yells after him and chases him saying it's too dangerous. Hiten uses his brother's thunder power to shoot a blast at them, engulfing Shippou and Kagome in flames. Inu-Yasha gets a powerful surge of emotion and starts to gain an upper hand over Hiten.The sheath is almost broken through and calls Inu-Yasha's sword to him. Inu-Yasha takes the sword and slices Hiten in half.

Inu-Yasha hears kagome's voice. He turns and finds kagome and shippo surrounded by a blue haze. Thinking them dead from Hiten's blast he thought they were now ghosts saying their final farewells. The blue haze starts to disapear and Inu-Yasha yells to Kagome to not go....but realizes she was never dead in the first place. It seems Shippou's father used his foxfire to protect them from the flames. Shippou and Kagome were perfectly fine! From this time on Shippou began travelling with them, much to Inu-Yasha's distaste ^_^.
