Hosted Stuff: Why host stuff for people who are too lazy to make their own websites? I do this mainly because these people draw way better than me, and deserve to have their art displayed...AT ALL COSTS...unless we start talking about time, money, etc. Only some space on my angelfire account is what I'm willing to spend. Maybe some effort too...which would mean time...and time is money...so I just screwed myself over by offering to host this crap. Dammit.
If the menu+button system above doesn't work, check to make sure you have Javascript enabled. Also, if you're using Internet Explorer, and that info bar comes up telling you something about blocked content, unblock it.
Site Plans:
-Add PHP...somehow :'(...if I get hosted by a php-enabled host.
-Make character descriptions
-Start a forum
-Apply for affiliates and topsites/webcomic-lists
Apply for Affiliation:
Why apply for affiliation? Well...you see...it's all about the webcomic/internet community coming together to help one another out through links. By having links to my website on your website and links to your website on my website, hopefully, our visitors will visit both websites and both websites become more popular. In theory, it's a beautiful thing, leeching eachother's visitors. With more affiliates, a site becomes more popular and it can make its affiliates more popular so it's one big cycle of reciprocal favors. More affiliation, more people learn about more websites. So apply for affiliation today! I must admit that I'll be more lenient on applications since at the moment, I have no affiliates. Damn.
Note: These criteria, application submission rules, rules during affiliation, etc are at my discretion and you may be accepted or rejected regardless...but they're here to weed at most of the cruddy applications. Please follow them since it's just easier for me, dammit! It's greatly appreciated and so forth.
Criteria to become an affiliate of Pointless Display:
Your website... 1. has reached a total of 500 or more non-unique hits before applying.
2. has reached a total of 100 or more unique hits before applying.
3. is up and running before applying.
4. has no adult-related content (porn, hentai, etc).
5. must be easy to navigate, easy on the eyes, and have most links/navigation working properly at all times. (I hope you also at least have a decent understanding of website design, html, web browsing, etc)
Submitting application: (email address for submission can be found on the About page)
Include the following in your email... 1. Your website's name and URL
2. Your webcomic's name, genre, art-type (sprite, hand-drawn, etc), and any other details you'd like to provide. The more the better.
3. If your website is not comic-related, it's OKAY. I still love you. Just tell me what your website is about and why it should be affiliated with this webcomic even though your site isn't a webcomic (is your site also about comedy, art, anime, gaming, etc?).
4. Your website's current total unique, non-unique hits, and what hit counter service you use.
5. How long your website has been running.
6. How often you update or at least work on your website.
Rules during affiliation:
1. Must display my 88x31 link button on your website's MAIN/HOME page (link button can be found on Links page).
2. Must provide me with your site's 88x31 link button.
3. I am not held responsible for the actions of affiliates (what they write about, what downloads they provide, etc).
4. Must update your website frequently.
5. Never have adult-related content on your website (liberal language like Penny-Arcade's language is acceptable...vile, dirty, naughty, yet so hilarious).
