You enter the well lit town square of this otherwise dimly lit city. Almost instantly, a small lad runs up to you and demands a battle. After sending him on his way, you observe the rest of the town square. There is an eerie looking alley that lures you in for some reason. A bodybuilder is standing at the entrance of an old boareded up dojo. Some old man has set up a makeshift concession stand. Instead of selling goods, he is selling information on Pokémon hideouts. Nearby, another man is quietly sitting. He appears to be deep in thought. He looks a bit lonely, maybe you should go talk to him.
Itching for a good battle, you find a girl about your age and challenge her to a match. Afterwards, you decide to head back to the main street and find the gym leader.
