When Mr. Bell issues a strict edict prohibiting employees from dating each other, Drew uses Kate and Jay as camouflage so he can continue to see Lisa. But the cover up strains his friendships almost to the breaking point. Meanwhile, a "star" falls out of the sky and into Drew's backyard when Tim Allen gets his parachute stuck in Drew's tree.

When Lisa accepts a date with another man because she's tired of hiding her relationship with Drew, he asks out his wild hairdresser (special guest star Jamie Lee Curtis) in response.

Drew is caught in the middle when Lisa, Mimi, and Kate compete for the same management position at the store.

Season 1: Episode 20 - "Drew and Kate and Kate's Mom"
Kate's mother, Lynn (special guest star Susan Saint James), meets Jay and quickly disapproves of him, believing Drew's the one with whom her daughter belongs. When Lynn asks Drew to intercede, he unwittingly causes Kate to press Jay for a deeper commitment, and in turn, Jay breaks up with her.

Season 1: Episode 21 - "Drew Gets Motivated"
Drew follows the advice of a motivational speaker who tells him how to move up in the company. Although his unique ad campaign is a hit and lands him a promotion, Drew panics when he can't come up with any more brilliant ideas, and his former job is already taken.

When Drew and friends learn that a foreign company is buying the department store and layoffs are imminent, they decide to become entrepreneurs by brewing their own brand of beer.
