an aspiring pokémon master who participated in the indigo league of kanto, the orange league and the johto league. ash and brock have an older brother-younger brother relationship. brock is his assistant coach in battles, and spectates while administering advice to him in situations. they have traveled with each other for years, and have become "best buds to the end." being so close to ash, brock even insists that ash likes misty several times. he hopes that ash's wishes of becoming a master come true and he will always be by his side to ensure that it does.
pikachu
a normal pocket monster to the untrained eye, but one of much value to the majority. ash's pikachu[u] is a special one; having enhanced electrical capacity and intelligence to match. brock and pikachu are habitually seen dancing or making silly faces together. he usually supervises ash on its well-being, and assists in thwarting team rocket's inane, yet consistent tries to capture it.
misty
(kasumi)
the bishoujo infactuated with water pokémon. brock and misty have a brother-sister relationship. she is seen plummeting or pulling brock's ear to escape embarrassment. the two are set on the sidelines of battles, and have formed a rapport with one another. they both use their knowledge to help ash acquire his goal of becoming one of the best, and so far it is working. brock knows that misty loves ash very much, and she has hinted at it on too many occasions.
may
(haruka)
the new rookie of houen who was recently joined by ash. she has acquired torchic from professor birch (odamaki-hakase) and has caught a beautifly. her and brock definitely have a teacher-student bond. she was impressed with him after he saved the gang from almost being devoured from rampaging taillow. he is puzzled about may's lacking of knowledge in pokémon. when she first started she was just in it for the traveling, but with brock, ash and her little brother by her side -- she is starting to show interest in her own creatures.
masato
a pokémon student that is the smaller sibling of may. he first meets ash, when posing as his father, senri, leader of their touka gym. when finally done with the charade, he realizes (spoiler!!!!!!) that ash is the one who was eliminated from the johto league's final round. he decides to travel with ash and may -- as an acting navigator; using his pokenavi like brock uses the johto league guide. he doesn't have any problem with brock, and seems to get along quite well with him.

the bothersome squad that seriously stalks brock and other "twirps" on a daily basis. jessie (mushashi), james (kojirou), meowth (nyasu) and occasionally wobbufet (sonansu) continuously try to capture pikachu and any other pokémon about their surroundings. sometimes though, they do assist ash and the others. they have been known to be accomplices (that's why their on this page). in the past, they've helped the others calm lugia and rescue their own pokémon. brock is seriously agitated by their reoccuring appearances and repetitive speech. now, they have journeyed to houen -- even with team magma and aqua running about, giovanni told the squad to start a team rocket faction in houen. so now brock has to prepare to hear the usual "team rocket's blasting off again!!!"
