He hears voices come in every now and then. He wishes he could respond, but he can’t. Because his body feels so far away from him.
Lee comes in. He can tell it’s Lee because of the tap tap that his crutch makes. Lee tells him to be strong. That if he can overcome his own injury then so can Neji.
Neji wants to scoff at Lee and tell him to mind his own business, but he can’t.
Tenten comes in sometimes too. She doesn’t talk that much. But she always brings him flowers, he can smell them. If she says anything it’s usually her begging him to wake up. Sometimes he hears her voice tremble on the verge of tears.
He wants to tell her to stop crying over him and to worry more about herself. She doesn’t train as much as she should. But he can’t.
Gai Sensei comes in as well. His voice is more somber around Neji. He says he blames himself for not being a good enough sensei. He comments that if he’d spent more time training him that maybe he wouldn’t be stuck in a coma right now with so many holes in his body.
He wants to tell his sensei that he had no problem training himself, and that if his sensei wants to help anyone, he should go back to training Lee because god knows that Lee needs all the help he can get. But he can’t.
Other people come in too. Hinata-sama comes in. He hears her quiet breathing, her body on the verge of shaking frantically as she tells him that she’s so sorry for what has happened and that she hopes that he’ll wake up soon.
He wants to ask her what is she apologizing for? He wants to smirk and comment that she wasn’t even chosen for the task, so that said a lot about her when both of her fellow team members had been considered for it. But he can’t.
Even Naruto comes in. He’s the one person who doesn’t say anything. He just comes in stays for a bit and leaves. This worries Neji. Naruto is know for being loud, annoying, to never shut up. And Neji wants to tell Naruto to say something. Anything. But he can’t.
