ION

• Ion is Violetta Todd, niece to the Blazing Skull of the New Invaders. She actually exists as a sentient cloud of ionized hydrogen gas, surrounded by an electromagnetic field. Ion can fire electromagnetic bolts, imbue metal objects with electromagnetic energy, and capture objects or people within her electromagnetic field. There are two ways that she can be restored to her mortal body: either by extreme concentration or by exposure to intense cold.
• Ion first appeared in MACHINE MAN#15, where she was caught in an explosion of ionized gas while she was conducting an experiment . She went to the Fantastic Four, hoping for a cure, but she only found the Human Torch and the Thing. She later encountered Machine Man and was defeated by him when he used extreme cold to revert her back to human form so that he could knock her out with a punch to the jaw. She showed up in a containment suit in CAPTAIN AMERICA#389-391 as a part of the “Superia Stratagem” and also in QUASAR#52, where she was defeated by the Whizzer and Dr. Spectrum of the Squadron Supreme.
