WHO IS IRON MAIDEN?

• Iron Maiden is Melina Vostokoff, a former Russian agent whose personal achievements were overshadowed by those of the Black Widow. To say that she carries a serious grudge against the Widow is an understatement! Melina HATES the Black Widow and wants her dead, preferably by her own hand!
• Iron Maiden is a master combatant, assassin, and mercenary. She wears a flexible metal costume which protects her from the force of many impacts and insulates her against many forms of energy attack.
• Iron Maiden first appeared in MARVEL FANFARE#11-12, where she worked for Damon Dran alongside Snapdragon, the Wrangler, Black Lotus, and others. During combat with the Black Widow, Iron Maiden nearly killed her, but she was prevented from finishing the job thanks to the intervention of several SHIELD agents.
• In CAPTAIN AMERICA#389, Iron Maiden joined Superia's Femizons. In CAPTAIN AMERICA#392, Iron Maiden teamed up with Whiteout (of the Savage Land Mutates), Ferocia, and Ice Princess to try and suddue Paladin, Diamondback, and the Asp. While the Ice Princess used a barrage of wind and ice to take Paladin and his companions off-guard, Iron Maiden attacked Paladin in hand-to-hand combat. She pretty much handed Paladin his ass on a silver platter, but she was later defeated off-panel by means unknown, most likely because of the combined might of Paladin, Diamondback, and the Asp.
• The next time we see Iron Maiden is in CAPTAIN AMERICA#411-413, where she attends an AIM Weapons Expo with her employer Superia and fellow lieutenants, Blackbird and Snapdragon. Superia murdered Brannex, the CEO of AIM, in order to take over the group and use its profits to finance her plans of world domination (unbeknownst to Superia at the time, Brannex was an Adaptoid and wasn’t killed). When MODAM, one of AIM’s prime agents, attacked Superia, Blackbird and Iron Maiden prepared to assist her, but they were briefly deterred by a force field surrounding the building. A short time later, MODAM tried to flee the area with a defeated Superia in tow. Blackbird flew after MODAM, but she was promptly knocked out with MODAM's laser blast. Iron Maiden watched the whole thing from the roof; however, she was unable to do anything to assist Blackbird since she couldn't fly. MODAM was later defeated by Captain America.
• Since then, Iron Maiden has never been seen. Personally, I think she is an awesome character with lots of potential, and I would love to see her again. She is as tough as they come, and I am willing to bet that she still hates the Black Widow with a passion. These two adversaries need to meet up again...and soon!
