THE VAMP
- The Vamp first appeared in CAPTAIN AMERICA#217. Her true name and origin remains unrevealed to this very day; and since she is dead, the chance of finding out about her personal information is unlikely. Highly skilled in martial arts, the Vamp also wore an absorbo-belt, which gave her the strength of her opponents. The Vamp also had the ability to turn into a male creature called the Animus. As the Animus, the Vamp had the ability to project psionic bolts of concussive force, levitate, and animate inanimate objects. She was also able to cause a crystalline club-weapon to materialize, a club that served as the focal point of her power.
- The woman called the Vamp was first seen as a super agent of SHIELD. However, she was actually working for the Corporation and was the lover of Kligger, the head of the organization. In CAPTAIN AMERICA#222-223, as the Animus, the Vamp attacked Captain America, but he defeated her in battle. Later, in THE INCREDIBLE HULK#232, while engaging the Hulk in battle as the Animus, her club was destroyed, which caused the Animus to revert back into the Vamp and also caused her to become lost in a catatonic state. She was put in a hospital for a while, but she eventually woke up and left. She kept a low profile until she found out that Scourge was murdering random super-villains. Fearing for her life, the Vamp agreed to come to a meeting at "The Bar With No Name", but she and the other villains present were killed by Scourge, who had been disguised as a bartender.
- I don't know about anyone else, but I loved the Vamp. She was a cool character who seemed to be a hero at first but was actually a super-villain in disguise. The Animus thing was weird, but I liked it anyway just because it's a part of who she was. The story of the Vamp, along with the entire saga of the Corporation, from CAPTAIN AMERICA#213 to 231, is my all-time favorite Cap storyline! Ed Brubaker, the current scribe of CAPTAIN AMERICA, needs to bring the Vamp back. I think that she would make a great agent of SHIELD. Obviously, she would need to be reformed, and this isn't something that is out of the question since we know little of the Vamp's past. At the very least, there could be a new Vamp that is actually the sister of the original. Something like that. Anyway, bring back the Vamp!
