Tarka Dal (Hot Curry) Recipe
Ingredients:
450 gram/1 lb. of Lentils
1 liter/2 pints of Water
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Turmeric Powder (Pisi Haldi)
1 Onion (chopped)
3 cloves of Garlic (Lehsan) (sliced)
Cumin Seeds (Saabut Zeera) (to garnish)
Directions:
Wash the lentils well and remove any small dirt or rocks. Place in a large saucepan together with the water, onions, salt, turmeric, garlic and the 2 whole chilies.
Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 20 minutes until the lentils are soft.
Transfer to a warm serving dish, sprinkle with cumin seeds and serve.
