The thoroughbred is the breed that participates in racing. The earliest that they can start racing is at age two.
The horses usually carry about 125 in these races. That accounts for their jockey and saddle.

A horse can only enter the Triple Crown once. The Triple Crown includes three races; The Kentucky Derby, The Preakness and The Belmont. To win the Triple Crown, a horse must win all three of the races.
