Batik

Batik is a style of textile that is made in the city of Androsia. Batik comes in many styles and bright, brilliant colors. Each year the makers use new designs ranging from fish, coral, to palm trees. The cloth is very light and comfortable to wear. Batik is made using a process of wax and dye.

Blue Holes

Blue holes are rare geological formations which consist of extraordinarily deep inland sea pools fed by the ocean via natural underground passages. The breathtaking pools, caves, and tunnels offer endless discovery and challenge for even the most experienced diver. Caution should be exercised when exploring the blue holes, as they can become dangerous vortices when the tides are strong. The safest way for most to enjoy the blue holes is from the surface -- they can be up to 200 feet across and appear like apparitions in the landscape. -(Andros 2000 Information Packet, WFSI)

Animals

Andros has many small land animals and birds. This is a curly tail lizard, you can see where it gets it name. The larger lizards on the island are iguanas, but because many dogs on the island most have killed.
