TOURISTIC PLACES
The village
of Reuilly forms part of the History of Berry. Thus it preserved very impressive
monuments for a 2 000 inhabitant village.

- The seigniories of Reuilly : Between the VIth and VIIth
centuries, Reuilly was dominated by a religious seigniory, depending of
the Royal Abbey of Saint-Denis. In 1659, Mister of Saint-Sulpice, took the
place over until 1789.
The
seigniory of La Ferté was built after the riots provoked by the Normen. At
the beginning of the XIIth century, the Templars were based in a Commanding
place at L'Ormeteau, in the western part of the village.
- The Roman church : In the heart of the city, the
current church replaced an edifice based on a carolingian-dated crypt.
Built at the end of the XIth century, the roman-style church of Reuilly,
dedicated to St-Denis, preserved the good-looking aspect of a white-rock
church after very important works of renovation in 1936.
The church is opened
everyday, the crypt is opened from mid-April to October or by requests to the
Tourism Office.
- Cellar-Dieu or Great Mansion : Near the church, the Great Mansion
overlooks the roofs of the village. A former hospice before 1700,
allowed to inhabitants for the olds and the sick, the south gabled show
an harmonious whole with XVe century dated Mullioned windows.
- The Templars's Commanding
place of l'Ormeteau : Maybe built during the XIIth century by Templars on a former
gallo-roman camp, the Commanding Place preserved its main building and
was often improved in the openings during the XVIth and the XIXth
century

- The Castle of La Ferté : Built during the XVIIth
century, between the arms of the river called la Théols, by Jacques de
LAFOND, secretary of the King, following François MANSARD's plans,
cousin of the famous MANSARD, the castle of La Ferté kept an attractive
aspect. It's one of the beautiful place of Reuilly.
Outside visits everyday, but
not in the castle's court.
- The Yves du Manoir dedicated
site : LieutenantYves
du Manoir, captain of the french rugby team, polytechnician, applicant
at the military camp of Avord near Bourges, died in a crash plane on
01/02/1928. A monument was built by his family on the spot of the
tragedy.
- Museum of wine and
vineyard/Paul Surtel Museum : Reuilly, capital city of the AOC area
of Reuilly, remembers the story of his wine in a small exhibition room
of the former presbytery (a XVth century dated building) and two caves,
reserved mainly to vineyard furniture. The Mansion of Reuilly, in front
of the Tourist Office introduces on his first floor thirty artworks from
the late artist. Born in Reuilly in 1893, Paul SURTEL, was a painter of
the end of impressionism and provençal school.

- House and graves of Marius
Jacob
: Nickname excessively "Arsene LUPIN", Marius JACOB, anarchist
of the XXth century commits suicide at Bois Saint Denis, in Reuilly in
August 1954.
