Copper

This is Copper. He is a 7 year old 14.1 hand arabian gelding who was rescued from an abusive owner who starved him for a really long time. He was barely living when he was rescued, and now he has grown into a beautiful, strong horse. We took a risk when we took him in, because he was having trouble putting on weight, but with one look at him how could I resist? My partner who is in charge of finances adviced strongly agianst it, but, as a favor to me, she agreed to buy him, considering that I liked him so much! Wow, look at him now! He has been out grazing and playing at pasture for a year now with our "grazing band" of horses who live outside all year, except we brought him in at night and in the winter, due to his bad condition for fear that harsh weather might stunt his recovery, or further harm him. He has currently just started his fitness training program to get him back into shape for riding and showing. He is almost done with his "walk training" stage, and we will be starting to trot him soon. When he is back in condition we hope to show him in endurance riding. He seems to have stamina and hopefully will prove to be a good athlete when he is back, since his conformation looks wonderful! So far from what we have seen, and without riding him, he seems to be calm tempered, easy to handle, and slightly timid, but we think that once we earn his trust, he will be just fine!
