Welcome to the Adult Volunteers' Page! Please read below to learn more about the positions available to adults. Please note that we may consider responsible persons under the age of 18 for some of these positions, so feel free to contact us if you're younger and would like to work in these areas. Aside from the satisfaction of knowing your efforts are directly helping the organization and community, many of these positions provide excellent work experience for people of all ages.

While some positions will not begin until the shelter is complete, we are currently compiling a list of people who may be interested in helping us out once it is. There is no obligation or commitment needed, but this will help us to get a feel for how many people may be able to help us out. We hope to fill all positions. Local Volunteer Positions



These positions will need to be worked on in within the state of Massachusetts. Specific locations are explained in each position description.



Remote Volunteer Positions



These positions can be worked on from anywhere. You do not need to live in the area, and even if you do, you do not need to come into the facility to take part in them. These positions are ideal for those with very busy schedules, or who are housebound, far away, or without transportation. They're also ideal for those who enjoy working from their homes, have children, or do not want to have to commit to coming into the facility. Note that these positions are of no lesser importance - they are all vital forms of assistance to our organization, and are greatly appreciated. Remote volunteers will receive the same privileges and recognition as local volunteers.


#RV001 - Advertiser: In this position, the person will use some of several means to advertise TheraPets and its services in his or her community. The person may hang or pass out flyers and leaflets in public places, leave or mail brochures and signs to facilities (veterinarians' offices, kennels, etc.,) hang signs on doorknobs, leave flyers on car windshields, put free ads in papers, magazines, or websites, etc. This may sound like a very simple job and does not take a lot of time, but it is extremely important. Advertising is one of the main ways TheraPets promotes and alerts the public of its existence. This position can be easily intergrated into your daily activities and is ideal for those with busy schedules. All supplies are provided, and you may bring materials with you to distribute as you go out about your regular errands. We will work out a plan with you that best meets your needs and abilities. Experience is helpful but not required. This position will start within the next four months, but we are looking for applicants now.

#RV002 - Marketer: TheraPets considers advertising and marketing different positions. In advertising, the volunteer leaves or sends materials to places where the public will notice them on their own. In marketing, the volunteer actively seeks out people to support or take part in our organization by making contact with them. They may call individuals or businesses by telephone, send out group emails, mailings, etc. All supplies are provided. We will work out a plan with you that best fits your needs and abilities. You do not need to leave your home for this position. Creativity, good attitude, and persistence is a must. It's an ideal task for those who enjoy interacting with people, and like a challenging, but immediately-rewarding job to do. Experience is preferred, but not required. This position will start within the next four months, but we are looking for applicants now.

#RVOO3 - Organizational Data Coordinator: This volunteer will help gather information from surveys, reports, etc., and put them together in a program or document. Occasionally, calls may be made to individuals or organizations, to participate in surveys. All supplies are provided. Projects will vary, and may cover many areas. We will work with you to determine which projects best fit your needs and abilities. This position is ideal for those who would like varying, interesting assignments, and enjoy learning in the process. The person should be organized and able to follow simple instructions. The work is simple and does not require you to leave your home. No experience needed. This position starts immediately.

#RV004 - Animal Data Coordinator: This volunteer will compile information about different types of animals, cite the sources, and send the information to us by regular or electronic mail. The information will be used in binders in our library, to provide multiple sources of information about animals to our visitors. Information can be compiled from library or other books, internet websites, etc. This is an ideal position for those that enjoy learning, research and resource-finding tasks. You do not have to leave your home for this position unless you choose to go to the library. No experience needed. This position starts immediately.

#RV005 - Writer: This position can involve several different types of assignments. The volunteer may write his or her own articles for our websites or newsletters, collect and compose articles from data we've collected, proofread and edit our articles, etc. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys and is skilled at writing, is organized, and is proficient in English. Correct grammar and punctuation is a must. This position does not require you to leave your home. Experience with writing is necessary. This position starts immediately.

#RV006 - Translator: This position is intended for those who are skilled in writing and speaking other languages, particularly, French and Spanish. Italian, German, and Chinese are also helpful. The person is sent articles and materials all ready written and proofread, and then the person translates them into another language. This position is ideal for those who are skilled in another language, can consistently provide correct grammar and punctuation, and would like to share their knowledge with others. You do not need to leave your home for this position. At least 2-3 yrs of formal instruction or experience with writing/speaking a foreign language is required. This position starts immediately.


#RV007: Designer: Volunteers in this area help to design various materials for TheraPets. They use computer programs or manual methods to create designs, new looks, and eye-catching appearances for our promotional and educational materials. They may also provide suggestions and propose plans for setup of displays in our facility, at fundraising events, etc. The completed materials are sent via email or regular mail to TheraPets. Supplies and postage will be provided if necessary. This position is ideal for someone who is creative, and takes pride in his or her work. No experience is needed. This position starts immediately.

#RV008: Publisher: In this position, the volunteer would help produce promotional and educational materials for TheraPets. He or she would print, copy, bind, or volume produce these materials from disks, websites, or single copies, and send and deliver them back to TheraPets, or wherever else they may be going. TheraPets will supply everything (including paper and postage) except for the copy/printer ink. Each project's tasks will vary. This position is ideal for those who enjoy simple, step-by-step tasks which volumes of people will benefit from. No experience is needed, however, you will need access to a copy machine, printer, and other machines depending on the types of projects you decide to work on. Schools, libraries, office stores, etc. generally have these, if your home or office does not. You do not need to leave your home for this position unless you do not have access to necessary machines. This position starts immediately.

#RV009 - Supply Coordinator: These volunteers will work on obtaining supplies for TheraPets. Depending on the assignment, they may gather or request non-monetary donations such as stamps or animal care items, coordinate deliveries or shipments of supplies from companies to TheraPets, etc. This position is ideal for those who would like to help out with a minimal commitment of time, and who enjoy short, simple tasks. It does not require you to leave your home. This position starts immediately.

#RV010 - Value Researcher: Due to the fact that TheraPets is a nonprofit, charitable organization, we strive to access the lowest possible rates on supplies and services. This volunteer will help seek out the best prices on products and services, make price comparisons, contact companies re. discount or free products/services, etc. and report back to us. This position is ideal for someone who is creative, enjoys working with other people, and enjoys the challenge of making the most of every dollar. This position does not require you to leave your home. No experience is needed, but cheerfulness, creativity, and persistence are necessary. This position starts immediately.

# RV011 - Supporter Coordinator: This volunteer seeks out people and organizations to support our organization financially or with supplies. They make follow-up calls or emails to interested individuals or organizations that our Marketers have previously spoken with. The volunteer then helps them decide how they can best support us. These volunteers are also in charge of sending notices, letters, or recognition materials to existing Supporters, and will help setup the free advertising program we offer for organizations that support us.

# RV012 - Fundraising Coordinator: In this position, the volunteer will work on organizing various events and programs to raise money for TheraPets. Specific details will vary according to each project. You can read about some of our current fundraising programs by clicking here This position is ideal for people who enjoy responsibility, are creative, and persistent. This position may or may not involve leaving your home, depending on the projects you choose to take part in. This position will start within the next four months, but we are looking for applicants now.

# RV013 - Grant Coordinator: Grants are large sums of money given to TheraPets by organizations or individuals for a certain purpose (such as for building costs, animal care, etc.) This volunteer may help seek out grants, approach companies, and write proposals. This position does not require you to leave your home, and it is ideal for a person who likes less frequent, varying, tasks, is friendly, and pays close attention to detail. This position will start within the next four months, but we are looking for applicants now.

# RV014: Sponsor Coordinator: This volunteer may participate in a variety of tasks, including raising awarenenss of our sponsorship programs, answering questions of potential or existing sponsors, preparing materials regarding the programs or animals available for sponsorship, processing applications and monthly updates, sending out rewards or gifts, etc. All supplies are provided, including postage. This position is ideal for people who enjoy working with people and papers, enjoy simple tasks, and enjoy working independently. You do not need to leave your home for this position. This position starts immediately.

# RV015: Rescue Coordinator or # RV016: Rescue Researcher: These positions are grouped together because they involve the same area of work, and one person may choose to work both positions. Rescue Researcher involves gathering information and resources for use in our rescue program. They may also make initial contacts with professionals such as veterinarians to help organize vaccination or spay/neuter programs, etc. They then present this information to the Coordinator. The Coordinator position involves a variety of tasks, including planning and directing rescue efforts, assisting other volunteers, coordinating transport, and using the information provided by the Rescue Researcher to arrange services for our animals. This position is ideal for those who want to be directly involved with animal rescue, without having to leave their homes, and for those who enjoy responsibility and independent working. This position begins immediately.

# RV017: Placement Coordinator: This volunteer will help locate space for our rescued animals, such as with foster or adoptive parents, in facilities such as kennels or pet stores, etc. He or she may also process and display information about animals awaiting placement. The person will work closely with other volunteers of this type, such as the Rescue Coordinator. The person will seek out the homes using the phone, free ads, email, etc. and then will follow up with arranging the placement details. This position is ideal for those who enjoy varying types of work, independence, and responsibility. You may or may not need to leave your home for this position, depending on the type of projects you choose to work on. This position starts immediately.

# RV018: Foster Coordinator or #RV019: Adoption Coordinator: These positions will be needed both in our area, and in other areas around the country. They are grouped together because they have almost identical details, and one person may choose to work both positions. They work in close contact with the Placement Coordinator. The main difference between the two is, foster homes are usually temporary placement, and adoptions are usually permanent. Foster Coordinators help answer questions, screen potential foster/adoptive parents, and possibly perform home evaluations for foster homes, and Adoption Coordinators do the same with adoptive homes. These positions may be filled by several people, as it involves various tasks. It is ideal for the detail-oriented person who enjoys working with people and animals, enjoys responsibility and independence, and enjoys a variety of tasks. This position may or may not involve leaving your home, depending on the types of projects you work on. This position starts immediately.
