Which political party does Canada need?

    Audrey

The Progressive Conservative Party is the party which Canada most needs to have in power. Why? Well, let's look at the other options. The NDP wants too much change in too short a time, and they'll screw up. The Liberals are all talk. The Canadian Alliance does not represent Canadian secular, multicultural values, but Christian values, and the Bloc Quebecois don't care about anything but the Sovereignty of Quebec. The PCs are ready to fix things to include and support everyone. They are straight up with their policies and are prepared to do the job right. That is exactly what Canada needs right now. Not too much, not too little- just right.

    Thanks for your opinion.

    Immigration Patterns

    levi

I think canada should keep bringing in immigrants. Our country is very underpopulated and we have lots of room to spare. We need to help those in less fortunate countries to have a better life. Please give your opinion for this subject. I am very interested in what other people have to say (not only canadians).

    Thanks for your opinion.

    Chretien

    James Bredin

    Free Advice to Mr. Chretien
Dear Mr. Chretien: I feel compelled to write you a letter because of recent events. That fellow Francois Beaudoin that you appointed president of the Business Development Bank of Canada does not seem to realize that he owes you. He should be more respectful to the prime minister. He wants a public inquiry.

You should appoint one of your socialist friends to conduct an inquiry just to spite him. It may shut down these continuous House of Commons questions about your conflict of interest in the Shawinigan affair. You have already admitted everything. No inquiry can touch you. These inquiries like the Somalia Inquiry or the APEC Inquiry or the Krever Inquiry can take years. An inquiry can be delayed, slowed down, stretched out, cancelled, shut down or ignored as you know. You have the Ethics Commissioner Mr. Wilson and the RCMP Commissioner on your side – both of whom you appointed. You only need an invitation to give evidence – not a subpoena – and you can be too busy to accept the invitation – just like the APEC inquiry. By the time they complete their multi-million 5-volumn-inquiry reports, it will be 2004 and time to retire.

Incidentally Mr. Prime Minister I didn’t vote for you as you know. No Canadian voted for you to be prime minister. Only your sycophant socialist friends in the Liberal Party voted for you to be their leader. Speaking of voters; the next time the separatists vote in a referendum – either in Quebec or the West – they will be thinking of you. Why are Canadians denied the checks and balances that Americans have on their politicians? Why are Canadians so politically obedient? Why did Canada fail to qualify for the high level Moody’s AAA rating that it held as a steady AAA rating from 1974 to 1994? Why did you break your promise about the GST?

It now appears that your legacy to Canadian history will be:
    1. Your shenanigans in Shawinigan.
    2. The $600-billion national debt.
    3. The HRDC giveaways of $billions to friends.
    4. The CIDA giveaways of $billions to foreign socialists.
    5. A 50-cent dollar (maybe even a 20-cent dollar by the time you call it quits)
    6. Complete US dollarization of the Canadian economy because no one will trust the ever sinking value of the Canadian dollar.

I dread to say it but you make Mr. Mulroney (he of the GST) look good.

    Respectfully Submitted

    Election

    Rena H

Opinion During the last election, Jean Chretien made a "joke" about not liking Westerners and only wanting to deal with Easterners. Many in the West do feel that it was a joke. We are so alienated that many of us think all the federal government does is lie, steal and cheat us from our hard earned money. I personally am so fed dup, I think everyone in Westeren Canada should withold their federal taxes. Let the provinces spend it on federal issues, and see how fast the deficit rises. Bc and Alberta are # 2 and #3 in giving taxes to Ottawa, but we are last in recieving any benefits. If this doesn't change, I want to see BC and Alberta split from Canada and join the USA. We get more respect formt he US than we do our own country. Thank you for letting me voice an opinion.

    Thanks for your opinion.

Pay The Wages of the Bloc Quebecois

    Andy

I am proud to be a Canadian, having spent nearly 30 years in the Canadian Forces (notice I did not say "armed") and having travelled the globe, am always proud to come home. My question for all the readers is: Why should we the tax payers of Canada, pay the wages of the Bloc Quebecois members in Ottawa? They are working for the separation of Canada, the destruction if you will, and I feel that since they are a ONE interest part, that the Province of Quebec should pay their wages and their pensions.

    Thanks for your opinion.
