    American/Canadian Partners

    American

Hi, I am an American living in california and I just happened to see this website. I have to say that I was surprised by some of the anti-US sentiment that I read. I have always felt that the US and Canada are two countries joined at the hip. We are more than just cousins or brothers but truly conjoined twins. Joined in our governments, history, much of our people, and our freedom. I hope that the US and canada can become even closer as the years go by. Who knows what a united North America could offer. The US has lots to offer (50% of all wealth on earth, 300 million people, lots of diversity, the strongest military, and freedom). I think that these rivalries that you imagine should be left behind so we can reach a great future togethor.

    Thanks for your opinion.

    Canada-US

    Andy Brooks

Im sick and tired of how americans treat canadians. im from toronto, and currently living in the US, and they just completly treat us like crap. the past seven years, i have been made fun of alot for it. but living in such a crap hole, like the united states, getting made fun of for that reason just got me more patriotic toward my country. now, the second i move back to canada, im going to join the the canadian army, and serve my country well.

    Thanks for your opinion.

    we are steel #1

    Sam

So what the U.S.A is a better country than us, but canada has a grater respect for gays than the U.S.A. Canada will one day be the #1 gayest country in the world if not all ready. Gays are no longer higher in population in Europe than in canada. Thanks canada for helping us out. the gays love you and we hate the U.S.A for the hatered they given canada and the gays.

    Canadian Pride

    J. Kevin McNeely

I am a veteran, a son of a veteran, a grandson of a veteran, and I am concerned that the people of the USA have no iedea of the support, both financialy and militarily, (and emotionaly) that Canada brings to the table. Who created the idea of NATO anyway?? Perhaps it is time that Canada stands up, let vett's hold their heads up, and receive thanks from people all over the world. that Canadian soldiers have risked their lives to defend and keep whole.. In these trying times..Canada will not lay down..Canada will re-think it's posture of defense.. to attack, with the coalition forces..to rid the world,(planet)from fanaticks, who have no respect for life, and we will prevail!!I only wish that I was young enough, to be accepted by the Armed Forces of the free World,,and if I may be of service, please contact me..(I will be there in a heart beat!!) I do know that my son, proudly serving in the US Airforce, is looking forward to erasing terrorism from the face of this planet,..so that his children never have to be threatend, with such sensless, unexplainable, thoughtless,, inexcusable behaviour!!

    Slow descent of $C

    James Bredin

The slow tortuous decent of the Canadian dollar towards 50-cents US has been going on for 25 years. It hasn’t reached 50 cents US yet but seems bound and determined to get there and the slow tortuous decent is mind numbing. The timetable of this descent has been as predictable as the phases of the moon. It shackled Canadians to a sinking ship as it sunk one or two cents a year. The pain and humiliation increased as the decent got deeper and was all the more distressful to Canadians who remembered when the $C was worth $1.10 US. The brain drain to the US increased, as the gap got wider. The propaganda of our socialist politicians in Ottawa has always been predictable.
“It’s holding its own,” they said. Or “Everything is in order.”

It remains to be seen how far down the $C will descend before Canadians will finally react– 63 cents US recently -- the lowest value since the Canadian dollar was established. Will Canadians still have confidence in Canadian currency as the Canadian dollar descends below 50-cent US and is still sinking?

The bureaucrats try to point out the comparison between the loonie and other currencies in an effort to divert public attention away from the widening gap between the $Canadian and the $US dollar.

Canadians compare the $C to the $US because they live next-door to the Americans along a 2,000-mile border. Canadians do not compare the Canadian dollar with other currencies because they are usually in other continents and far away.

Our current politicians in Ottawa are out of touch with reality and locked into their own socialist-communist world where social programs, equalization payments, pre-election handouts, HRDC handouts, and CIDA giveaways are more important than the $600 billion national debt. They love the collective – programs and money for every identifiable group, club, culture and special organized deviates in Canada. Individual Canadians mean nothing. And unfortunately Canadians themselves delude themselves when they think that the value of their property has increased when in reality it has decreased because of the sinking Canadian dollar.

    Thanks for your opinion.

    take pride

    Pierce

I am a very proud canadian. there are so many things for canadians to take pride in all at once, i think sometimes we take it for granted how great we have it. the quality of life in our country is so much higher than almost anyplace else in the world. we can sit up here in the cold and laugh at those americans with their ghettos, gun problems, crime rates and lawsuits as long as we have our quality of life. canada does have ghettos, but how much gang violence occurs on the streets everyday? not much. please stop comparing ourselves with the US. they don't pay much attention to us because they have so many problems at home. be free, be happy and don't care about those ignorant fools anymore. be proud of who we are.

    Thanks for your opinion.

    Canadian Pride

    NAME

I'm not here to bash the Americans in order to state my Canadian pride, but for the love of mercy , I want to be able to do that without feeling silly, petty and vindictive like I have when voicing my opinion in front of the Americans! It's one of the things that I admire about them but we deserve the right to be proud too! We have a wonderful sovereign country and we can and do stand on our own!

    Thanks for your opinion.

    Re:Canadian Olympic Results

    Andrea

I am a Canadian living in the US. To me, it doesn't make a difference whether Canadians bring home 2 or 200 medals from the Olympics. Our country has, to me anyways, always seemed to look at each and every athlete with great pride. I don't feel that we expected gold from every athlete that goes to the Olympics. I have always felt that we, as Canadians, are proud of each and every one of the athletes that have entered in every event. The time and effort put into training for the various events is enormous. I for one am proud of every athlete that was in Sydney. Now, being in the US, I didn't get alot of Canadian coverage or any other country's coverage other than the American and Australian athletes. I called home frequently to get the updates on how we were doing. I truly believe that we are as proud of 1 gold medal as some countries are (and they shall remain namelss *S*) of their 35. We don't put the hopes of the country on the shoulders of just a select few athletes. Every ! athlete puts in countless hours of training and go to the Olympics expecting to do their personal best and if a medal placement happens to be there, all the better. I was just as proud of Donavan Bailey at this Olympics as I was in '96. He did his best and to me, that is all we can ask or expect. I am equalling as proud of every other athlete who showed guts and determination at their events whether they placed first or last. I have found that almost every other Canadian that I know feels the same. We have our heroes from Olympics past, i.e Donavan Bailey, Elvis Stoyko, Elizabeth Manley, the Synchronized swimming teams, 4x100 relay teams etc, but the non-medal athletes are just as much a hero to me as the medal winners. I especially like the fact that during past Olympics, the CBC coverage of the Olympics has shown little bios on every athlete. We get to know a little about almost every Canadian athlete that went to an Olympic games.

    Thanks for your opinion.
