BANKRUPT SOUL
By: Patricia Collins
Once my soul was filled
with passion, love, and desire..
Now it seems a waterfall
has come and doused the fire.
The embers have gone cold;
the tears have all been dried.
It's as if emotions have left me,
withered into a cave and died.
I no longer seek companionship,
even though I know I could.
It's as if my heart has turned to steel,
and my soul has turned to wood.
Some thieves have made their way;
chiseling in and leaving a hole,
no more deposits made...
into this bankrupt soul.
