Interesting Things About Second Sight

In the Training level of Second Sight, there's a door near where you start, in which an assault rifle can be found. This can be used to engage in a massacre of the ever-spawning troops, as well as killing some of the actual WinterICE team that happen to be around.
It's pointless, but very fun, especially killing JC.
And when you eventually get killed (as there's nothing else you can do once you start killing except wait to be killed), you get to watch the interrogator reprimand John for shooting people.

An obligatory FRD monkey reference? Probably not, but I like to think it is.

In the Escape level, once you get to the area where the Furnace is, find a nice place to settle under the pipes, out of view of the guards, where you can also see the control panel to the furnace. Use telepathy to press the button.
You'll see the worker panic slightly over the fact the Furnace is jamming, but he soon rectifies the problem.
This will also happen the next two times you press the switch (though the dialogue is different, it's the same 'furnace jamming' situation.)
The third time you press it, his dialogue is much more panicky, and the furnace then blows up.
The explosion isn't that large, and considering it takes roughly ten minutes of waiting to go through all the conversation leading up to it makes it even less worth it, but it's still a fairly cool detail.
(Also, pressing the switch a lot doesn't make waiting through the conversations go faster. Only pressing it after the Engineer has temporarily fixed it will set it off again.)

There's also two ways to get through the laser barrier in the Escape level.
The first way is that you can use a projection to go through and press a switch on the other side.
The second way is that you can swirl the clock forwards in Dr. Terry's lab to make him think it's 2 PM (doing this to the worker's clock will get them to complain to Dr. Terry, but doesn't actually make the gate come down), and thus charge down the gates.

Later on in the Escape level, you can actually get to the pillar room before the guards take up their positions behind the pillars, and hear their conversation.
Though you can't really read the quote in the screenshot, it's:
"They say a patient's escaped. You don’t think they mean one of those gorillas? That'd be cool."
I do realize that there's a lot of hidden conversation in Second Sight, but I just found that bit to be especially interesting.

Here we see a strange piece of paper that can be found in the Escape level, just after the "John PsiBlast" cut scene. I suppose it's probably an in-joke.

Most people would know about this, but it can't hurt to mention it. In the Madness level, you can get a computer disk from this store room (Vattic is reaching for it in that screenshot), take it back to a computer and play a video game (X Space '92) on there. The game can also now be accessed from the menu.

In Streetlife, once you reach the Colonel's apartment, there's a TV there which gives John a "change channel" command by pressing A while standing next to it. If you do that, it then shows a looping video of credits (for what appears to be a movie.)
Surprisingly, I didn't recognize any of the names in there as being FRD staff members, but at the end it does say "Soundtrack available from FRD recordings" and then "This motion picture and the soundtrack are copyright 1998 DuckAndDive Productions."
I'm not really sure what exactly FRD meant by all that. I suppose it's probably another in joke.

The motto on the NSE logo, translated from Latin, is "Laws are silent in times of war."
It's a very fitting motto for Hanson and the NSE.

And here we have the most interesting thing in the game. In the NSE building, after you initially read Hanson's emails, if you wait a few minutes (I'm not sure exactly how much, I think four or five?) then a piece of spam will arrive in the inbox. This email, (copied word for word), reads:

If you wait several more minutes after THAT piece of spam, you'll then receive another one. It (once again, copied exactly), reads:
Assistance Required, Kazan Kara Maza
Esteemed associate, I forwith humbly beg some degree of forgiveness for this intrusion into your busy schedule, but I believe we may be of more than a modicum of use to one another. I am Kazan Kara Maza, assistant associate vice financial president of the Quazambique Republic. Since our country's government was overthrown four months ago, it has become cardinal that our pecuniary assets are redistributed temporarily in order for their monetary worth to survive these difficult times and not attenuate due to a foretold increase in inflation.
Your name was brought to my attention by a colleague. Might it be possible for a proportion of our accumulated governmental finances to rest temporarily in one of your accounts? By way of thanks, you should be entitled to any interest accrued during this period, which may well total in excess of one quarter of a million dollars, given a favourable fiscal climate. To assist us, kindly respond detailing your account number(s) and bank address.

And, several minutes after that, one more message is sent, from unknown@unknown.com, with the subject name "Hi there 21487."
When you click on the email, a box pops up saying
"This message appears to contain the HURFORD35 virus. Continue?"
If you click yes, this email then opens.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, this is the last of the spam messages (I waited a bit more after this, and nothing happened. While copying down what was in these emails, however, I noticed every now and then something strange was happening with the screensaver. Unfortunately I couldn't get any screenshots of it, but there are variations in what it says. (I think roughly it's a one in ten chance of it scrolling across with a different message. I don't really know though.
NSE: hello world
NSE: from America to itself
NSE: you don't have to be an amoral psycho to work here but it helps
NSE: Your Big Corporation Friend
NSE: you guys do realise that if SH finds these we'll all be fired
I didn't notice any others, but there's probably more than that.

And there's one last thing. In Confrontation, once the agent is there to escort you to Hanson, you can possess him and get him to run into Hanson's office.
If you try this, Hanson actually guns down the guard you're possessing, and makes a few comments about it. I thought this was especially cool.
