Last chapter guys, or rather, this is the epilogue! Behind Blue Eyes comes to an end!

I like to thank some people who were involved with this story. Though I had written the novelette, there were many who were behind the scenes supporting me. These people are: Amanda Z., though we aren't so close anymore, you gave me ideas when writer's block threatened to end the story prematurely, Allyson, I know you hate BSB, but your support of my writing was great, Lorianne, thanks for listening to me for hours on end while I told of ideas for this story, Ciara, even though I'm a Nick fan, you still read my stories and helped me out, Nina, your morbid mind is great when it comes to horror! And to anyone else I missed!

To the fans of the story who reviewed and were patient, you guys are AWESOME!

And I'd like to thank the boys of Backstreet, even though they will never see this, the story could not have been done without them! KTBSPA! You guys rock!

And now...the Epilogue to Behind Blue Eyes!!!!!

EPILOGUE:

The hospital room was cold. Or maybe they were just cold. Cold because Nick was still unconscious, and no one knew what had happened to him.

After he collapsed, they had rushed him to the hospital, saying that he had just feinted. The doctors, though confused, were able to stabilize Nick, and three hours later he hadn't awakened.

AJ paced the room. His hands were clutching the bottom of his shirt and he twisted, pulled and tugged at it. A habit he had thought he long ago dropped. "Shouldn't have done it..." He mumbled repeatedly, "Shouldn't have done it..."

"AJ, what's that going to get you?" Kevin asked, somewhat annoyed by AJ's endless pacing and complaining, "What's that going to do for Nick?"

AJ only looked at Kevin, and continued his never ending trek back and forth across the room. "Shouldn't have done it..."

Kevin's eye twitched and he grunted. Turning away, he stared down at Nick who lay still on the metal hospital bed. Reaching over, he pulled the blue hospital blanket up more on him.

In the corner of the room was Gwen, who sat and chatted idly with Howie, who noted she was very much not at ease. Brian, who was on the other side of Nick, bit at his nails, eyeing everyone in the room.

An eerie silence had fallen upon the five as they watched Nick. The only sound that could be heard was the beep beep beep of Nick's monitor. It did nothing to help the mood.

Another hour passed and the scene was no different. Neither was it two days later.

During the time that passed, back at the house, none of the boys recorded any paranormal activity. Everything was calm. It really did work.

They had gotten rid of Andrew, and as it seemed, his step father also.

Kevin, Howie, Brian, and AJ were constantly at Nick's bedside, Gwen, however, always got up to go for long walks, or at least she claimed to go for walks.

At a quater passed two on the fourth day, each were at the same spots in the room as always. Kevin on Nick's left, Brian at his right, AJ pacing, and Howie and Gwen by the door.

In Kevin's hand was Nick's. Pale and stiff, the thirty-one year old had held it since they came in that morning. Once again, they talked quietly, no one really keeping track of the conversation, when Gwen spoke up.

"Nick is going to be fine."

All eyes turned, shocked, on her. "What?" Howie's mouth dropped, "How do you know?"

"Never mind that. He's going to be just fine. You all are. Andrew is at peace, his step father is gone, the house is clean of spirits, And Nick will wake. And he'll be fine."

"There really is-"

"Nicky?!" As quick as the eyes were on Gwen several moments earlier, they were on Kevin even quicker. "I felt his hand move!"

"Kev..." Howie tried.

"Again! Nick? You okay? Nicky?"

Brian grasped Nick's other hand, trying to see if he felt it too. His eyes widened. "Get a doctor!" AJ sprang from the room.

"Nurse! He's...He's..."

"Okay, okay," They heard a women's voice say. "Doctor Turner..." They heard no more but assumed she was telling a doctor. AJ raced back in the room, his eyes lit like Christmas. The nurse stood in the doorway. Everyone's attention on her. She looked about forty with graying hair, and wore a white medical jacket with a name plate that said Nurse Edith on it. "The doctor will be here shortly, okay?" The nodded and she surveyed the room. She stopped on Gwen. "Mrs. Sandeminne, what are you doing out of your room?" Four shocked faces turned to Gwen, but instead of seeing the young women who sat there earlier, they instead, saw the old women who had giving them the deed in the first place. "Come Mrs. Sandeminne." It was then that Howie recognized the nurse also, however before he could ask any questions, she took the old women's hand and led her from the room. Howie jumped up and ran to the door, however when he looked out, the hallway was empty.

He entered again, and sat in one of the chairs. No one said a word. The room remained quiet until the doctor arrived.

He checked Nick's vital signs and nodded, "He's coming to. He'll be fine. Just give him some time." When he left, a giant exhale simultaneously was let out. They just had to wait.

Brian was the first to break the silence that had entered the room, "Gwen was really..." They nodded. "I don't believe it...I just don't believe it."

"I recognized the nurse." Howie said, "But I can't figure out who she is..."

The topic dropped and they anxiously waited for Nick to wake. It took some time, but Nick's eyes finally fluttered open. The doctor once again checked his vital signs and stated that he was going to be okay.

"Nicky, we were so worried about you! Are you okay?" AJ asked, dropping to the floor beside Nick's bed so he could be closer to him.

Nick weakly nodded. He spoke, his voice soft and tired sounding, "I had the freakiest dream though! That our house was haunted and this girl came to help and that I had to play a concert to the ghost or something and..."

"Shh...Nicky, calm down, don't worry..." Brian said.

"Yeah, baby, just settle down," Kevin comforted, "that was all it was...just a dream." His look to the other three was clear. Nick was only to know that the entire ordeal was a dream.

The blonde nodded, "Good," and he fell asleep.

Still thinking that the whole episode was a dream, the next time he awakened, Nick had told the others of his piano playing abilities, he had decided to come clean. They had acted shocked, but pleased.

-

It was fair the day Nick came home from the hospital. The clouds were few and the temperature a breezy seventy-five. He entered the house happily, plopping onto one of the sofas.

Nick was still unsure of what had actually happened, and Howie had told him that he had found the secret room, but there was no piano up there. After all, it had disappeared with Andrew. It was up there, Brian had completed, that Nick had feinted, and thus the reason why he was in the hospital at the first place.

"Actually," Brian corrected, "you were sick for several days, then feinted again." He easily explained the lapse in time.

Nick nodded, and went to his room to rest, still somewhat weak.

AJ gasped and snatched several items off the coffee table. It was the books and information that they had taken out from the library. "You guys, we're lucky he didn't see these!"

Howie took the book of poems he had taken out and agreed, "Your right." Mindlessly, he flipped through the book. "Oh my..." His fingers had stopped one of the pages. Kevin, Brian, and AJ, leaned over to see what Howie was looking at.

In the middle of the book were pictures, the kind an author or publisher would insert about themselves or the person who wrote the book. It was of Gwen and the nurse. The caption read: "Andrew Cartelle's fiance Gwenivere Matiscalco, who later married Richard Sandeminne after his death, and his mother, Edith."

"So now we know..." Kevin muttered, "so now we know."

"Forget it," Brian said, "let's just show Nick the gift we got him!" Agreeing, they went to wake Nick.

Leading him down the stairs in giggles, was AJ, who's hand covered his eyes. He had opted for underwear as a blindfold first, but Nick firmly objected. The reached the downstairs living room, and Nick squealed in surprise and excitement. The boys had brought him a black baby grand piano. He ran over to it and sat down.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"Guess he likes it," Howie joked. Nick started to test it out, taping keys and playing quick bits of songs.

"Nicky, look on this..." Brian pulled the cover over the keys and pointed to an engraving in the wood. Nick smiled as he read it aloud. " 'Nicky, we love you little bro! And we hope you make beautiful music! Actually, we know you will! Love, Kev, Bri, D., and AJ.' Thanks guys! Hey, what's this?" At the other end was another engraving.

"I don't know, this piano is brand new and we only ordered one engraving...." Brian trailed off as he read what the second said. Suddenly, the room was very cold.

AJ read it aloud, " 'Nick, thank you for what you did. Enjoy this piano and always believe in music, it's what's behind those blue eyes of yours. Forever- Andrew.' "
