Buidling the Wing

Below are a few pics of the left wing panel. The work you see here was started on a Thursday night and brought to the point shown by Sunday afternoon. The main ribs and false ribs were pre-built/formed. This saved a lot of time. Though, the work shown did take about 26 hours. Despite its appearance, the wing is amazingly rigid. There is no flex in it at all. The weight is about 35 pounds.

Wing rib temporarily held to the main spar.

Looking down the center of the 5" main wing spar. Look closely and you can see the rib rivets sticking through it on the inside.

The strut attachment point on the main wing spar. All of the weight of the plane hangs from this area (specifically the white spar tangs shown).

This is the wingtip - my favorite part so far.

The left wing panel (shown upside down). It is almost complete at this point. All that remains is to finish rivet the top false ribs and install the false ribs on the bottom.
