Weren't the Grammys Great?

Finally, some good music is rewarded.

I gotta say it. I loved the Grammys. I knew it would be great from the beginning, when Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel reunited onstage to butcher one of their best songs. What a touching moment. And the ceremony was back in New York after five years, which made it all the more poignant when everyone was kissing the city's collective ass.

I also loved the constipated look on Bruce Springsteen's face as he raped the memory of Joe Strummer. It was as if his rendition of "London Calling" was as painful for him as it was for me. That's Springsteen for ya: a real man of the people.

Of course, it's really all about the awards. They really outdid themselves this year. It must have been difficult to pick the winners, since, apparently, Norah Jones was the only person who put out an album last year. The young jazz artist won every single Grammy, including "Best Album" and "Best Acceptance Speech by Ravi Shankar's Daughter." I'm so glad that the Grammys have stopped rewarding artists who write their own material and, you know, entertain people. And thank God that awful Eminem didn't win the big awards. I hate it when awards are given to interesting, creative people.

And so, we at the Editorials would like to present the Grammys with the award for "Best...Awards Show...Ever." Accepting for the Grammys is me. And I'd like to thank Jesus.

Dave
