"And that's why we don't want Betsyto be around any longer than she has to," Jessica declared.
"Jessica Wakefield!" Elizabeth exclaimed. "Betsy's sister just died. Imagine what she must be going through right now. We have to be nice to her."
"All right, Liz," Jessica said after a few seconds thought. "I'll try to be nice to Betsy Martin, OK?"
"OK," Elizabeth agreed.
At least for the moment, Jessica added to herself.
