Secret song
Lynn Henry is tall, awkward, and painfully shy. The one bright spot in her life is her songwriting. In her room, playing the guitar, Lynn forgets how lonely she is and becomes someone special.
When the Droids, Sweet Valley High's most popular rock band, announce a songwriting contest, Lynn enters it. But she is so insecure about her talent that she submits her song anonymously.
As soon as they hear Lynn's song, The Droids know they've got a winner. Guy Chesney, the attractive lead guitarist for the band, vows to find the songwriter, no matter how long it takes.
Only Elizabeth Wakefield knows Lynn's secret. Can she persuade Lynn to come out into the open and share her talent, or is Lynn destined to remain unnoticed?
"I have a feeling that the girl who wrote this song is really intense - really terrifis," Guy said to Lynn, his brown eyes shining. "I can just tell by listening to her that she's not like anybody else around here. Playing backups for her would be like a dream come true. Like playing for Linda Ronstadt," he added smiling at her.
Lynn felt her mouth go dry. Guy probably thought this girl looked like Linda Rostadt, too.
Someone terrific, he had said. Lynn didn't have to think too hard to imagine what that meant. Someone curvy, lithe, beautiful, someone who would look as good onstage as she sounded.
How right she'd been to keep her song anonymous! Lynn couldn't bear disappointing Guy, dashing his dream to bits. Let him keep thinking this anonymous songwriter is the girl he had been waiting for all his life.
Lynn knew better, and she was determined no one else would learn the truth, however hard it became to keep her identity a secret.
