Time for a change . . .
Jessica Wakefield is sick and tired of being an identical twin. Her parents make jokes about it, and recently people at school have been mistaking her for her sister, Elizabeth. So Jessica's determined to make sure no one mixes her up with her twin ever again; she's going to create a new Jessica!
She gets a complete makeover and dyes her hair black. Then she starts to wear outrageous clothes and read European magazines. Soon everyone at Sweet Valley High is talking about the new, sophisticated Jessica Wakefield.
But one person isn't thrilled with Jessica's transformation. Elizabeth feels as though she's lost her twin sister forever. Is the old Jessica gone for good?
"Where's the catch, Jess?" Lila asked.
"The catch," Jessica said, "is that we spend some time doing a little . . . well, a little transformation." She paused in front of one of the oval mirrors.
"Lila," she said triumphantly, her eyes still on her own face, "with a little ingenuity, I don't see why I ever have to be mistaken for Elizabeth again."
Lila looked worried. "As long as you don't plan on doing anything drastic," she said nervously.
Jessica raised her eyebrows. "Me? Drastic,?" she said innocently.
But the secret smile she gave herself in the mirror said something entirely different. As far as Jessica was concerned, it was time for drastic action. She was sick and tired of looking esactly like Elizabeth. And she was going to ensure that no one ever got the two of them mixed up again!
