Screams in the night . . .
Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield have no idea that their world is about to be turned upside down - again!
Last Christmas, Margo - a girl who looked, talked, and dressed exactly like Jessica and Elizabeth - arrived in Sweet Valley to take what she considered her rightful place in the Wakefield home. On a dark winter's night, Margo fell to a violent death, and the Wakefield's though their nightmare was over.
But they didn't know about Nora, Margo's own twin sister. Nora, seperated from Margo at birth, is outraged when she discovers that the sister she'd never known is dead . . . and that California's picture-perfect twins are to blame. Now Nora wants revenge - and she's capable of evil beyong anything Margo could have ever dreamed . . .
Nora hesitated. Jessica looked exactly like her. She was about to plunge a knife into her own chest, watch the life drain form her own body. For a moment, Nora wondered if she was killing the right person. Maybe she, standing there with the knife in her hand, was the inposter.
It's time, the voices told her, rising to a cresendo in her head, like a hurricane-force wind. Do it!
In one fluid motion, Nora pressed the pillow against Jessica's open mouth - while with the other hand, she stabbed downward with the knife, at Jessica's Sweet Valley High nightshirt. As she stabbed her victim repeatedly, a faint, sweet scent danced along the edge of Nora's awareness, tantalizing her with tendrils like mist.
Suddenly, she recongnized the smell. Magnolia. It was not logical. But somhow it had perfect symetry.
Nora smiled, understanding. The old Jessica Wakefield was dead. A new Jessica Wakefield was about to be born.
