Winter's here and everyone at Sweet Valley High is excited about the upcoming Winter Carnival. It's a very special weekend at a mountain ski resort, with ice skating, skiing, sledding, and a spectacular ball.
But Elizabeth Wakefield's got the midwinter blues. She's especially upset with her twin, Jessica, who's been avoiding chores and borrowing clothes without asking. Elizabeth is so sick and tired of Jessica's inconsiderate attitude that she sometimes wishes she had never had a sister! And when Jessica's string of broken promices threatens to destroy Elizabeth's romance with Jeffery French, it looks as though Winter Carnival will turn into a snowy disaster!
Elizabeth hung up in a daze. It was five-fithteen by now. The thought of Jeffery standing at the intersection, watching hopefully as each car whizzed past, was heartbreaking. She would never forgive her sister for not getting the Fiat home on time. Never! Nothing Jessica had done in the past made any difference compared to this. Elizabeth felt as if she were going to explode with anger. She was certain she would never talk to her sister again.
And the way things were looking now, it appeared as though Jeffery was never going to talk to her again. Elizabeth felt as if her entire world were collapsing, and all she could do was sit there and watch it crumble around her.
