BLUE
HEY, don't get me wrong, living by the beach is AWESOME.
But that doesn't mean I want to hang there ALL THE TIME.
I mean SCHOOL can be pretty COOL sometimes - especially when ELIZABETH'S around.
Know what I mean?
"Social services just called," Leaf stated. "We've got a new social worker, and she decided to check up on you. She talked to the school." He turned and looked me right in the eye. "Your grades are bombing big time, Blue."
At first I couldn't even process everything he'd said. We'd gotten a new social worker? How come nobody told us? I swallowed again, hard, and stared down at my shoes. There was nothing I could say either. My grades did stink.
"Something's gotta change, Blue," he added.
Now my heart started beating a little faster. I hadn't thought about social services in a long time. I'd forgotten about the power that they have. Leaf is my lega guardian, but child welfare has the right to check up on us to make sure I'm in an okay enviroment. And if they don't like what the see . . .
Well, I didn't even want to think about that.
