New Identity. New Job. New Life.

I'm over five thousand miles from home with no money, no friends - and nowhere to go.
What could I do?
I had to take the only job I was offered.
Me, a maid in an Earl's mansion.
It's so nineteenth century.
But I was desperate. So suddenly I'm a servant.
And treated like one . . .

It didn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that there was some chemisttry happening here.

From the nervous smile on Max's chiseled face to the way his dark eyes darted up and down, drinking in Elizabeth from head to toe, he was clearly quite taken with her. And as for Elizabeth, well, her flushed cheeks combined with the embarrassed yet at the same time curious look in her eyes was a dead giveaway. We have a love connection, Vanessa thought. How charming.
And how utterly unrealistic!
"Who is that?" Elizabeth whispered as Max traipsed down to the kitchen.
"You haven't figured it out?" Vanessa was incredulous. "It's Max Pennington. Son of the earl. The furture Lord Pennington himself."
"He seems much nicer than I expected," Elizabeth remarked as the girls took the final flight of stairs to the fourth floor.
"That's just an act," Vanessa explained. "Remember that."
