You Are Cordially Invited . . .
To a night of dinner and dancing under the stars in celebration of
The Sweet Valley High Annual Senior Prom
"Didn't you hear?" Elizabeth asked. "Jessica's running for prom queen."
Tia raised her eyebrows. "You're kidding," she said with a laugh. "You're running for prom queen?" she said to Jessica.
"Mm-hmm." Jessica nodded.
"That's ridiculous," Tia said. "People don't run for king and queen of the prom - they just get elected."
Jessica stopped writing and stared up at her. "That's what I thought too, until I saw your boyfriend's letter. I had to do something to counter his campaign," she said.
"His . . . what?" Tia said, squinting. She glanced around at her friends, but no one else seemed surprised. "What are you talking about?"
Maria laughed. "You mean you haven't seen it yet?"
Tia glanced around at the amused faces of all her friends, and a wave of fear and dread rippled through her body. "Seen what?" she asked.
"Trent's post to the student-coucil bulletin board," Maria said.
"The one that says everyone should vote for the two of you for porm king and queen if they want to show support for the new policy," Jessica added.
"Oh my God," Tia said. "He didn't."
"He did," Jessica said. "Which is why I need to get this poster up right away - before you walk away with my crown."
