You are getting sleepy

Something very strange is going on at Sweet Valley Middle School. It all started when the Mysterious Dr. Q hypnotized Jessica Wakefield and her classmates during a school assembly. They were so impressed by Dr. Q's performance that they decide to try a little hypnotism of their own.
The hypnosis works like a charm. Jessica convinces Janet Howell and Amy Sutton that they're twins, Lila Fowler that she was a duck in a past life, and Elizabeth Wakefield that she's in love with obnoxious Bruce Patman! Can Jessica snap her friends out of it . . . or will they be spellbound forever?

Powerful and dangerous . . .

A star pendant around Dr. Q's neck sparkled in the light. She sighed deeply. "To be hypnotist," she said, "one must first be in tune with one's own innermost thoughts and feelings."
"Check," Jessica said, busily writing it down. That's easy. I'm the most in-tune person I know!
"Second," Dr. Q went on, holding up a long finger, "the hypnotist must achieve a state of absolute calm."
"Absolute calm," Jessica wrote. She suspected that she might have misspelled absolute, but she didn't care. That'll be easy too, she told herself happily. I'm always calm. She looked up. "But how do you-"
"Hypnosis is an art," Dr. Q went on, rearranging the folds of her skirt. "I can give you some suggestions about developing your skills, but there is one thing you must remember."
"Which is?" Jessica said, wondering when they would get to the good stuff.
"Just this," Dr. Q leaned forward and fixed Jessica with her hardest stare yet. "Hypnosis is not a toy, never a toy. It is a tool, and a powerful but dangerous one." She folded her hands neatly in her lap. "Do not play with it. Do you understand?"

Jessica may be a hypnotist, but Elizabeth doesn't need hypnosis to get what she wants . . . Elizabeth Solves it All
