while Mr. and Mrs. Wakefield are on vacation in Mexico, twins Jessica and Elizabeth and their older brother, Steven, are left with May Brown, the world’s meanest baby-sitter!
But the Wakefield kids are determined to throw a party on Saturday night, with great food, fabulous music, all their friends – and no adults. They make an elaborate plan to get May out of the house, and the party of the year is on!
By the end of the night the house is a wreck. How will Jessica, Elizabeth, and Steven ever get the mess cleaned up before May – and their parents – come home?

"Isn’t this great, Elizabeth? I’m having so much – yuck!” Jessica lifted her foot off the floor. Her shoe was covered with grape soda.
Someone in the living room turned up the stereo about three times louder than it had been before. The walls were shaking from the noise.
”I hope the neighbours can’t hear this!” Elizabeth said.
”Hey, get out of there!” Jessica yelled at a boy who was taking a package of cookies out of the cupboard. He ignored her and took the bag into the living room.
Elizabeth looked around the kitchen. It was a total mess. There were half-full cups everywhere, and popcorn was sprinkled on the floor like confetti. She picked up a cup from the floor and tossed it into the trash. “Jess, do you think maybe things are getting a little out of control?”
Elizabeth didn’t hear Jessica’s answer – it was drowned out by a loud crash from the living room.
