Some people have all the luck...
Lila Fowler, the snobbiest girl in Sweet Valley Middle School, has gotten her own beautiful horse--and she doesn't seem to care. Elizabeth Wakefield thinks it's not fair. Elizabeth absolutely adores horses, so much that she'll go as far as pretending to be friends with snotty Lila. She'll even do all of Thunder's grooming--just for the chance to ride him every day.
Elizabeth's behavior makes her twin sister, Jessica, furious. Jessica accuses Elizabeth of trying to steal her best friend away. And that's not all Elizabeth is doing! She's deceiving everyone at the stable and is making trouble for her closest friend, Amy. Just how far will Elizabeth go before she loses everything--all for the love of a horse?

"Oh, Lila, thank you so much for letting me ride your horse," Elizabeth said. "He's so specail. I wish I had one just like him."
"Funny, that's what everybody says about him," Lila said. "I had three girls over to ride Thunder last week. None of them rode him as well as you. You know, I just can't let everyone ride my horse. Some of the grossest girls have asked me. I mean, a couple of them would have scared Thunder away!"
Just play along with her, Elizabeth thought. "Like who?"
"Oh, you know, the usual nerds. Cammi Adams, Grace Olivier. Before you know it, people like Amy Sutton will be on my back."
Elizabeth stiffend. "You know, Lila, Amy is a friend of mine."
"Well, excu-u-u-se me! You have to admit, she is kind of strange."
At that point Elizabeth was so angry, she felt like slapping Lila. But a nagging thought stopped her: Don't blow it now, or you'll never see that horse again . . .
Has Elizabeth made a big mistake, or can she trust Sophia? Against the Rules
