A battle for stardom . . .

Jessica Wakefield is dying to play the part of Juliet in the Sweet Valley Middle School production of Romeo and Juliet. But during the week of auditions, she comes down with an aweful case of the flu! The only way she can win the part now is by getting her twin, Elizabeth, to try out - pretending she's Jessica!
Elizabeth reluctantly agrees. She has a great audition and wins the part for Jessica. But there's a slight problem - Elizabeth falls in love with the part and won't give it up!
Who will get to play Juliet?

The perfect Juliet . . .

Suddenly, Elizabeth understood why people loved to act. Something magic was happening to her. She didn't feel embarrased to be auditioning opposite Todd now, because she wasn't Elizabeth anymore. She wasn't Jessica either. She was Juliet.
She took a step forward and held out both arms, as if to embrace the night. "Romeo, doff thy name; / And for that name, which is no part of thee, / Take all myself."
"Bravo!" Mr. Bowman yelled. He shot out of his seat and began hurrying up the stage steps.
All around her, people were applauding and whistling.
"Look," she heard Todd say as he showed his arm to Denny Jacobson. "I've got goose bumps."
Elizabeth had never felt such a rush of joy and pride. Everywhere she looked, she saw faces beaming with admiration and enthusiasm.
She couldn't believe it. She had made the role her own. She had found a bit of Juliet in plain old Elizabeth Wakefield.
"Great job, Jessica," Mr. Bowman said warmly.
Jessica?
Elizabeth's heart began to sink slowly into her stomach.
