High expectations . . .
Elizabeth Wakefield is thrilled when she hears the news: Her teachers want to skip her to the seventh grade! Everyone is proud of her--except her identical twin Jessica, who wants her sister back in the sixth grade where she belongs.
But Elizabeth vows to prove that she can make it as a seventh-grader - even if it means staying up all night to finish her homework, or sneaking out to a seventh-grade party.
Trying to meet everyone's high expectations is turning Elizabeth into a zombie. Maybe she can make it as a seventh-grader, but does she want to?

A seventh-grade game . . .

Bruce stood up and walked toward Elizabeth. What's going on? Why is he coming over here? She had a funny feeling she wasn't going to like whatever was going to happen next.
Before she knew what was going on, Bruce was sitting in front of her, craning his face towards hers. When she saw him pucker up his lips, she thought she was going to faint. I'm supposed to kiss him, she realized in horror. She looked around at all the expectant faces, then back at Bruce.
Just as Bruce was about to plant his lips on top of her own, she quickly turned her face so that the kiss landed on her cheek.
"Hey, what's the big idea?" Bruce asked in an exasperated tone. "Don't you know how to play this game?"
The whole room erupted into laughter. Elizabeth was paralyzed. She opened her mouth, but she couldn't say anything. Tears began to form in her eyes.
