A pen that tells the future?

Summer vacation is here, and Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield and their friends have just arrived at sleep-away camp! On a hike through a dark, eerie cave, Elizabeth finds something incredible — a glowing pen! She can't wait to use it to write an article for the camp newspaper.
But as she writes, Elizabeth is astonished to find herself composing a mystery full of scary twists and turns. And to her horror, little by little the mystery seems to be coming true! This isn't just an ordinary pen.
Could it be haunted?

The pen's writing . . .

"I was rehearsing my script bby the fireplace, and I got up for some juice," Jessica told Elizabeth. "When I came back, my script was gone. And here's the clincher, Lizzie: it was burned up in the fireplace."
Elizabeth felt her throat tighten. "The fireplace?"
"Yup," Jessica continued. "Holly happened to notice it just before the title page caught on fire. I have no idea how it ended up there, but I know for a fact that I didn't go near that fire."
Elizabeth felt the blood rush from her face.
"Hey, what's going on? You look kind of ghostly." Jessica studied Elizabeth's face.
"There's more to the story that the pen was composing than I told you," Elizabeth said shakily. "When I left off, Amelia had just completed a mystery novel that she thought she would be able to get published."
Jessica rolled her eyes. "Bor-ing."
"Just listen, Jess. Amelia got up to let Richard out, and when she came back, her book had mysteriously ended up in the fireplace. It was in flames. The only remaining piece was the title page. It's exactly what happened to you. What if the pen was speaking to me, trying to warn me about you?"
