Dear Diary,

I came to Costa Rica this summer to work hard and help people. What do I get? A nonstop party.
Not that I'm complaining.
It's just weird - sort of how it is with J.P, I guess.
At first I thought he was a jerk . . .
And now I think I might be in love with him.
What have I gotten myself into?

The curly - haired guy dropped his red backpack on the first row of seats and glanced at one of the adult chaperones. "Yo," he called. "Is this where the Rain Forest amigos are hangin?"
I couldn't seem to tear my eyes away from him. I guess I was staring a little, because he noticed me. And then - he smiled. Needless to say I was totally embarrased. I couldn't believe he'd caught me gawking at him. I was about to turn away.
But then for some reason Jessica's voice popped into my head with one of her all-time favourite phrases: "Go for it, Lizzie!"
And suddenly I knew what she would have done if she were in my place right now. If Jess had been staring at a cute guy and he'd caught her, she wouldn't just blush and turn away. No, she'd do something bold and daring, like wink at him or blow him a kiss. That me wonder if maybe I hadn't been too shy around guys in the past. Maybe now that I was almost in the eigth grade I needed to start being more daring, like Jessica. What harm could it do to try it out and see what happened?
All these thoughts raced through my head in about half a second. So the curly-haired guy was still smiling at me when I decided to follow my twin's advice and go for it. I'm not as bold as Jessica is, so I couldn't quite bring myself to wink or blow kisses. I decided to start simple: I smiled back.

What does the eigth grade have in store for Elizabeth? Sweet Valley Jr. High

What's Jessica getting up to . . . ? Jessica: Next Stop, Jr. High!
