Identical twins Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield are ready for the trip of their lives. They've been selected to participate in their school's Bonjour Paris! project, and they get to live with a real French family in the City of Lights for two whole weeks!
But on the plane, Jessica makes a startling discovery about their French mother, Madame du Noir. And when the twins meet her in the Paris airport, Jessica is absolutely convinced: Madame du Nior is wanted for murder, and Jessica and Elizabeth are her next victims!

Jessica turned as a woman's voice, chattering quickly in French, floated down the hallway toward them. It was Madame du Nior! Jessica felt her flesh beginning to crawl. "Hang up!" she hissed to her sister, cutting off the connection herself just in case Elizabeth didn't pay attention. "Listen!"
"What?" Elizabeth glanced toward the hallway.
"Quiet!" Jessica's heart was racing. "Don't talk - just translate!"
"Umm, she's saying, 'I was going to -'" Elizabeth paused. A ghastly look came over her face.
"What?" Jessica shouted in a whisper.
"She said, 'I was going to cook them for dinner,'" Elizabeth continued in a strangled voice. "'And then-'" She gulped. "'Then I'll put them under glass.'"
"Under glass?" Jessica drew in her breath sharply. In her minds eye she could see a huge window being pressed down against herself and her sister, forcing it's way down, down, down, as they lay tied up in a bubling pot. "Get me out of here!" she cried.
